EXERCISE 1: ASKING FOR / GIVING DIRECTIONS
Look at this map of London and decide where you would like to go:
A) You are at the Tate Modern Museum. Ask for directions to get to the place you would like to visit.
B) Swap roles: Ask your classmate where he / she would like to go and give directions to him/her

A) Put the words in the correct order:

B) Read the following dialogue:
CONVERSATION AT A RAILWAY STATION TICKET OFFICE
Passenger: Good morning.
Ticket seller: Good morning.
Passenger: I’d like a ticket to Bath.
Ticket seller: Single or return?
Passenger: A return ticket, please.
Ticket seller: That’s £7.
Passenger: Here you are.
Ticket seller: Your ticket, madam.
Passenger: Thanks. What time does the next train leave?
Ticket seller: It leaves in ten minutes.
Passenger: What platform is it?
Ticket seller: The train arrives on platform 9.
Passenger: Thank you very much.
C) Put the sentences in order:

D) Say if the sentences are true according to the conversation:

E) Now roleplay the dialogue with the following information:
Student A: You are the passenger. You want a ticket to Liverpool. A single ticket.
Student B: You are the ticket seller at the ticket office. The ticket costs £5. The train leaves in fifteen minutes. The train arrives on platform 5.
F) Swap roles:
Student A: You want to go to Liverpool and buy a return ticket.
Student B: You are the ticket seller. The ticket costs £8. The train leaves in 20 minutes. It arrives on platform 10.
